  1. Dusk is great (I like dark themes) and Wall light is good too. Since I don’t like bright or colorfull themes, I don’t particularly like the other ones.

  2. None of those themes will make it.

I personally prefer the first theme by far.

Wall-light is ok, but they will need to drop the dock.

I don’t like them, and the boys from Canonical will never use a dock for their basic setup.

I still like the Ibex dark alpha theme, but not many people follow me in that.

Themes numbers 2, 3, 4, and 6 are way too bright and are painful on the eyes.

Number 1 is nice but it has no brown in it and is using Mac icons, so thats not gonna fly.

    Number 5 looks the best

  5. I like 1 very much, 4, 5 & 6 they are really nice and make sure that the light is a little bit darker for the eye but really well done they are awesome ;)

I really hate when people put Photoshop icons in linux mockups. What’s that all about? Teasing me with what seems to be a native CS2 installation. I’ve been trying to get Photoshop running on my Ubuntubox for weeks now.

@Tiago Rodrigues: these are a sort of officially proposed but these are only mockups, not real themes. I don’t think there’s a place where you can vote them, except here :-)

I like wall-light the best but not the icon theme although it is still loads better than the default ones. (Why do people think the swiftfox icon is so good) Firefox 2006 and 2008 are much better alternatives. I would like it if an ibex is incorporated in the theme like they did with heron.

2 thumbs up for the wall light! It is just really pleasing to look at.

1 thumb up for Dusk. But I think this one is too dark. I like some more contrast.

The rest of them: EEWH! The choise of the colors and all: It looks like… like a mother that let her kids go crazy with her painting equiptment..
    Plain ugly

  16. When is Canonical going to take Marketing 101, and drop the horrendously ugly orange/brown nonsense in favor of something more refined, like Wall Light? I mean sure, you can change it but people aren’t rational economists. They like to see something that is beautiful and elegant by default. Bands use clever album names and cover artwork, restaurants and architecture firms use bright and bold logos and fonts. There’s a reason. Looks matter. Wake up for christ’s sake.

Personification isn’t bad. I would prefer Sauna () or Sauna Dark () – or even better, a theme that takes the best elements from both.

I have my Ubuntu Hardy set up as close as I can get to Wall-light. It’s simply the most pleasant theme to look at that I have seen so far. Needs some tweaking though.

i have photoshop installed since gutsy. and never had a problem with it. just check you have the latest version of wine. put the install cd. and voila. never had a problem.

Why is ubuntu entirely focused on visual effects? Those are the best thing it has going for it already. Face it, ubuntu alrady looks great.

God forbid they knock down a few of the million annoying bugs. Or implement directx support.

Nah, just keep rereleasing the same OS with a different wallpaper loaded… that’s cool.

I like the first one… as a Mac user, I have to say, if your operating system doesn’t require that you use a Dock, don’t use one. It’s probably one of my least favorite things about Macs. Plus, I like designers who do their own thing instead of copying Apple.
